Group Therapy at Doorways

Working in groups offers teens, young adults, and parents the opportunity to interact with others that are dealing with the same issues.  This kind of supportive environment helps develop communication skills, enhance self-understanding, and build self-esteem.  Group therapy provides a safe space to practice new coping strategies and helps participants work on overcoming trust issues.

Doorways provides the following group therapy options for teens and young adults in Phoenix, Arizona:

Adolescent DBT Skills Group

The Adolescent DBT Skills Group is an open enrollment group for males and females between the ages of 13 and 18.  The focus of this group is employing the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) approach to build and practice new, healthy coping skills in a safe, supportive setting.  It is an interactive, experiential, and educational group that can support teens who are struggling with a variety of challenges.

Doorways expects that any adolescent attending the DBT Skills Group be involved in regular individual counseling at least twice monthly, either at Doorways or with another provider in the community. This is to reinforce what is learned in group and facilitate treatment for difficult issues.
